Features and Functionality

SIS4You provides a central database and powerful application which combine the functionality currently needed for undergraduate administration, historical data from USR and the many, scattered personal databases, and the benefits of state-of-the-art application development speed and flexibility.

Currently, SIS4You provides all of the data and functionality at the student level for maintaining the following:

	Registration;
	Contact;
	Immunization;
	Previous education history;
	Personal schedule;
	Electives;
	Marks;
	Awards information.

The Admissions modules support data imports from and exports to OMSAS (Ontario School Application Service), and applicant information including personal and contact, previous education history and degrees, GPAs and MCAT results, other universities applied to, application reviewers and scores, interviewers and scores, and offer (of acceptance) and response for successful applicants. Undergraduate Education administrators can maintain student and applicant information online, maintain curriculum information, import marks and other data, export information, produce numerous reports, and maintain system Users.

The system has an excellent and complete security and control structure that allows complete flexibility in the functions available to each user, and the menus are automatically customized according to the authorized functionality available to the user. Roles, such as Registrar, Admissions and Awards, Clerkship and Pre-clerkship, are set up for users with common functionality and each user is assigned a role, but even within a role, functions may be removed or added as required for individual users.

In this current academic year (2003-2004), student, teacher, course and rotation evaluations will be added to SIS. The process will involve scheduling all courses and rotations, automated mailings of notifications and reminders to those required to do evaluations, online completion of evaluations forms, online access to completed forms for authorized individuals, status and statistical reporting. This will require the addition of Faculty users, Course Directors, Teaching Doctor/Supervisors, Hospital Administrators, Medical Departments and Academy Directors, bringing the total number of SIS users into the thousands.
